Virtual Office Tour
WELCOME to our facility. The structure, built in 1920, which now houses Alley Cat was known as the Big Red Barn. Rooted in the history of our Napa community, the old chicken barn has a rich and colorful past. With just a little imagination, one can picture what the ranch might have looked like in those days and how the Barn and its adjacent water tower served the needs of the many animals which lived there. In the 1950's an artist purchased the building for use as a studio and residence. What is now the waiting room once held a large kiln. In 1985 a major renovation took place during which the Big Red Barn became Alley Cat Small Animal Hospital
As you can see by our recent photo's we painted the barn a soft yellow. We made few exterior changes, careful not to lose the old barn's rustic charm.

In this shot you can really tell the facility was originally a barn. Located right at the peak of the structure, if you look closely, you can see the window and door to the hay loft. . .
The historic exterior remains intact, however our hospital interior is truly a different story!
Updated, upbeat and modern, our reception and retail area provide comfort for our clients and patients, plus it's a wonderful upscale environment for our dedicated receptionists. Bunny, one of our house cats is happily perched along side the jar of treats we have available for our patients. As you can see, Bunny's wide girth suggests she gets a treat or two, perhaps, too often. . .
Ah, here's the front end of our feline friend. In this shot we're looking at the reception area. If you look past Bunny and toward the back, you can see some of our veterinary exclusive diets which Dr Miller may recommend to augment a patient's treatment plan. We also carry a variety of diets specifically designed to help protect against urinary disorders or joint disease such as arthritis and of course diets that reduce calories for some of our more hefty patients. . .
We always have on hand a large variety of canned and dry pet food. We also have non-dietary items such as shampoos, grooming tools, as well as specially formulated dental chews. Of course we carry an assortment of doggy and kitty nutritional treats. . .

We have three modern exam rooms where your pet is seen by Dr. Miller and our nurses. Each room gives us the opportunity to see your pet in a quiet private setting.
We have an isolation exam room that is used for pets with potentially contagious diseases. We keep them separate from the rest of our patients to ensure there is no possibility of exposing our general hospital patient population to highly contagious diseases.
Pet care is administered in the Treatment Area
This is where the action is, it's the heart of the hospital.
A myriad of tasks are performed here; we are equipped to take x-rays, give vaccines, complete in-house lab analysis, perform ultrasounds and complex surgeries . . . The treatment room is equipped with two state of the art dental work stations. We are committed to keeping your cat's or dog's mouth healthy.

Did you know that a diseased mouth affects your pet more than just giving them bad breath? It is painful and the bacteria causing dental disease can also damage many other vital organs. A healthy mouth, free of rotting teeth and diseased gums is vital to your pets over all health. For dog owners, we do have a vaccine we can give your dog which helps to reduce the bacteria in your pet's mouth and ultimately helps slow down the disease process.
.
Finally, here at the end of our tour we find the cat condo's. This is were your feline friends are boarded when you decide to take a break from the rigors of daily life. You can be assured your kitty will be well taken care of in our quiet boarding area which is located well away from the hustle and bustle found in the treatment and hospital arena. We are happy to board you cat, either short term or for extended periods. We are staffed over all Holidays so you can enjoy the festivities and feel confident that your cat is safe and well tended. . .
